What I do
I am Nicky Mitnick, a developer based in Dénia, Spain, working remotely for clients. I build custom MCP servers: small programs that give an LLM such as Claude a set of tools to read from and act on systems it cannot reach by itself. Think of a legacy planning system, the Shopify Admin or internal data.
Every server comes with a matching command line tool. The same logic that the model calls as a tool also runs in a script, a cron job or CI. The model gets tools, and your team gets the same tools outside the chat.
When this is the right choice
- You tried RAG or a generic chatbot and the model still does not know enough about your domain.
- You want scripted automation around a system whose interface or API gets in the way.
- The data you need sits behind a slow upstream API.
How I build it
It starts with a workshop to map which tools the model and your team really need. Less is more here. Then I build the server in TypeScript or Python, with one entry point that works both as an MCP server and as a CLI.
What is part of the work:
- Tool design: names, arguments and descriptions tuned for use by a model
- Authentication, rate limiting and secret handling
- Testing with Claude Code
- Deployment in your environment, or in a setup I manage for you
- Documentation for end users, notes on prompt design, and a document that lets your team extend the server later
A recent build for a B2B client covers about 50 tools and CLI commands from one codebase. It includes a SQLite mirror layer, which makes work against a slow upstream API much faster.
Example: Roosterspecialisten
Roosterspecialisten is a client: a timetable consultancy for Dutch secondary schools whose software I conceived and develop. The timetable system Zermelo holds the data, but its dashboards were not built for analysis across schools. Behind the site sits an analysis toolkit on top of Zermelo: utilisation reports, dashboards, dropout analysis and lookups across schools, set up for several schools at once so one consultant does not repeat work. It is the kind of noisy source system this service is meant for.
Scope and price
MCP and CLI projects take 1 to 6 weeks and start from €2,000. If you first want to know whether MCP is the right fit at all, a consultancy session or a fixed assessment is the quicker route.
